The successful experiment of exporting Bangnapally mangoes from Andhra Pradesh during the current financial year lead to the sanction of an Agri Export Zone for mangoes in district of Krishna in Andhra Pradesh. In view of the large production volumes of such mango variety in this region and the potential for export, the Steering Committee approved setting up of this Agri Export Zone which would entail an investment of around Rs. 17.90 crores out of which Rs. 3.77 crores will flow from the Central Government Agencies, Rs. 4.23 crores from State Government Agencies and private sector will put around Rs. 9.89 crores. In the next 5 years it is expected that there would be an export of Rs. 48 crores from this zone. Around 2000 farmers are also likely to benefit from the setting up of this zone.
