Consequent to the setting up of an Agri Export Zone for flowers in the Hosur district of Tamilnadu, it was felt that the facilities created in and for this zone could be utilised for other such areas in the State where flowers are presently being grown but are not being exported on account of the inability of the farmers to adopt necessary post harvest practices. Thus, an additional Agri Export Zone for flowers has been sanctioned for Nilgiri district of Tamilnadu with a view to exploiting potential of export of a variety of flowers from this region. This zone entails an investment of around Rs. 15.89 crores out of which Rs. 5.23 crores will flow from Central Government Agnecies, Rs. 2 crores from State Government Agencies and around Rs. 8.65 crores from private sector agencies. It is expected that setting up of this zone will lead to an export of around Rs. 110 crores in the next 5 years. Around 500 farmers are also likely to get benefited
