Mexico Opens Market Access For Indian Dehydrated/Dried Mango Slices
Mexico, a Latin American country, has good demand for dehydrated/dried slices of Mango. While India has the potential to supply these products, as per Mexican phyto-sanitary regulations, a pest risk analysis would need to be conducted on the fresh fruit of mango before such permission is granted.
In January,2009, APEDA had forwarded technical information on Mangoes with pest analysis for Mexico and the document was forwarded to Mexican quarantine authorities through the Ministry of Agriculture for conducting the pest risk analysis.
In one of the quickest exercises, Mexican quarantine authorities conducted the Pest Risk analysis and have intimated the Government of India now that Indian dehydrated/dried mango slices can now be exported to Mexico.
This is a welcome sign for exporters dealing in such products and they can now tap sources in Mexico for exporting the same.
